This year celebrating Holi in all its amazing glory may be a little difficult, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be acknowledged as it should be. For this reason, we came up with a spectacular Holi collection with the help of our friend Shreya Mehta and her incredible foundation, Art For a Cause. If you don’t know what Holi is…
Holi is a Hindu holiday also known as the Festival of Colors. This awesome festivity has been celebrated in the Indian subcontinent for many, many years (centuries, really!) and it marks the beginning of spring and the end of winter which symbolizes the triumph of good over evil.
And why is it known as the Festival of Colors? Simple. On this day people go out to the streets and throw colored powder (called gulal) all over streets and towns, the festival is so big that everything ends up looking like a rainbow! Also, colors used on this day have specific meanings, and having a festive dinner after having fun outside is usual as well.
